Titlesec package for LaTeX
This package is essentialy a replacement--partial or total--for the
LaTEX macros related with sections--namely titles, headers and
contents. The goal is to provide new features unavailable in current
LaTEX, such as:
1) Different classes and "shapes" of titles, with tools for very
fancy formats. You can define different formats for left and right
pages, or numbered and unnumbered titles, measure the width of the
title, add a new section level, use graphics, and many more.
2) Headers and footers defined with no \...mark
intermediates, and perhaps containing top, first and bot marks at
the same time. Top marks correctly syncronized with titles, and without
uncompatibilities with the float mechanism. Decorative elements
easily added, including picture environments.
3) Pretty free form contents, with the possibility of grouping
entries of differents levels in a paragraph, changing the format
of entries in the middle of a document or creating partial tocs.
In the following examples the program fully automates the format and no
manual intervention is required to readjust individual titles. In the
first one, there is a rule of dots whose width is that of the longest line
plus 2 pc:
The wrap style measures the title and wraps the text around it:
Finally a margin title with a rule above both title and text.
News
Version 2.8 released (2007-08-12). (Version 2.7, released a few days
before, in incompatible with the KOMA-Scripts classes and it should be
considered deprecated.) New in this release:
\titlepagestyle assigns a page style to a sectioning
command (mainly \part and
\chapter).
- With the package option
explicit the title is not
implicit at the end of the title format but it should
be given explicitly (with a macro parameter).
leftmargin has now an 'after' argument to add stuff
at he beginning of the paragraph.
- The patch mechanism has been removed (titlesec.new
and titletoc.new no longer exist).
(Some other changes have been left for a later release.)
